School Tours

The Montclair Historical Society offers field trips for schools throughout Northern New Jersey. Our programs are adaptable for preschool through high school students and complement the NJ Core Curriculum Standards for Social Studies.

Because your students are the only ones on-site, our trained docents can give them their undivided attention and customize the experience to meet your classroom needs.

Choose from any of these programs:

  • Discovering History for Preschoolers
  • Life in Early New Jersey
  • From Farm to Suburb
  • Charles Shultz House: A Preservation Gem

Each program includes a Student Orientation that sets the stage for your visit, a tour of the historic house that brings history to life, and classroom resources to supplement your visit. Students may end their visit by shopping at our Museum Store.

This program was funded in part by the New Jersey Historical Commission and the Whitehill Foundation.

Call the Montclair Historical Society at 973-744-1796 or email mail@montclairhistorical.org if you’d like to arrange a field trip of either the Israel Crane and Nathaniel Crane Houses or the Charles Shultz House.
