Volunteering
Montclair Historical Society's museum docent program trains
volunteers to lead groups of adults and children through the
Crane House museum. With their interactive and engaging
tours, the active and demanding life of the 18th and 19th
centuries becomes a reality for Crane House visitors. The Montclair Historical Society offers unpaid internships for undergraduates, recent graduates and graduate students who are studying history, conservation, education, museum studies and other related fields. Internship programs are tailored to students based on their academic background, professional skills, interests and career goals. Interns participate in the ongoing work of the Society and complete specific projects or portions of larger Society initiatives. A minimum commitment of three months for 15 hours a week is required.
