Description
If you’ve done even the smallest amount of research on your family tree, you know that finding out about your female ancestors can be particularly perplexing. Last names are often lost to history and prior to 1850, women’s names were not even recorded on the US Census unless they were the head of the household. At this month’s Sunday Spotlight, professional genealogists Nancy C. Nelson and Carol M. Shaeffer present “Don’t Forget the Ladies,” a program that focuses on identifying the women in your family tree. Nancy and Carol are professional genealogists with combined over 40 years of genealogical research experience and are sought-after speakers at many genealogical societies, including the Genealogical Society of New Jersey. They presented an intro class on genealogy in the fall that was excellent. Suggested donation is $5.
