The Transformation Has Begun!

This morning, a group of students from Montclair High School, plus a couple of adult helpers, turned out with garden tools and a rototiller to begin the transformation of our back lot to a productive, functioning garden.  The group had planned to start this fall, but they’d finished up some work at their first site on Miller Street and figured they’d put the extra time to good use preparing our site.  They plan to plant pumpkins to harvest this fall. The Montclair Community Farm project is a collaboration of the Essex County 4-H, HOMECorp, Montclair Health Department, Montclair State University, TerraNoble Design and United Way of Northern New Jersey. For the Montclair Historical Society, it’s a great way to recall and interpret our agrarian heritage.

Students begin clearing the land that will soon become a productive farm at the Montclair Historical Society.
